Memories:Being a student from grade 1 through 12, starting out in the one room school in grade one and transferring to the big red brick building, before going to the "new school building." Before the buses came, riding the tractor to school with Dad in the winter when the roads were heavy and being so cold upon arrival. Riding the school bus starting in 1963 with Mr. Joe Moleski. Making snow forts at recess in the winter time. Making friends and going to the record hops. Studying hard with a thirst for learning from the teachers. Taking part in sports/recreation (ping pong, soft ball, track & field, volleyball, curling, skating). Going to the Legislative Building in Regina for a field trip. Being in the Kelliher 4-H Homecraft Club after school. Always knowing there were chores to do on the farm after school. A favorite memory is the beautiful dress Mom made from a 100 pound red patterned flour sack for my first day of school. Another favorite memory is learning how to square dance in grade one and receiving a quarter from the dance teacher. Winning a ribbon for long distance running in track & field still seems unreal to me. Our high school graduation was a very special event; I have come to realize there is something about small town graduations.
Fads or Trends: Our family got our first TV in 1963; Bonanza and the Don Messer Show were favorite shows. Paisley designs , corduroy fabrics, knitted sweaters and bell bottom pants are among the clothing memories. There were many favorite songs from the sixties. Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel, Hey Jude by the Beatles and Oh Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison are among them.
Additional Comments: Thank you to the committee members who are organizing the 2018 alumni and anniversary event and for the wonderful website.
